Born and raised in Basel, Switzerland, I studied fashion design in Vienna, Austria and then
received a BFA in graphic design at CCA in San Francisco.
Interested in pursuing my passion for technology and human-centered design, I moved to
Seattle in 1997 to work for Microsoft. During my 8 year tenure I rose from Visual Designer
to Product Design Lead on the MS Office team. I was directly responsible for the look and
feel of Office XP and Office 2003 and as manager had broad design impact across many of
Microsofts best selling software applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
As a result of my work with the Office team I hold two US design patents related to visual
and interaction design.
One of the highlights of my career came in 2003 when Microsoft was awarded the IDEA gold
award in the New Media and User Interface category for their Center for Information Work,
for which I co-designed the graphic user interface.
In 2006, I decided that it was time for me to leave the corporate world and finally start
my own company.
My diverse background combines a practical, user-centered approach to design with a
minimalist sense of aesthetics. By continuously questioning the obvious, I try to create
new connections that combine human interaction, technology, cultural trends, fashion and art.
While these disciplines tend to have unique properties and are usually designed and executed
in isolation, my approach draws inspiration from each, which helps me discover new and
innovative solutions to old challenges.
